Frequently Asked Questions…

What do you believe about God?

We believe in the one true, eternal and living God who has expressed Himself to us in three persons – God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This is commonly called the Trinity.

What do you believe about Jesus Christ?

We believe Jesus is the Son of God, fully God and fully human born of the virgin Mary. He was crucified on the cross as the sacrifice for the sins of the world. He was raised from the dead, ascended into Heaven, and is now seated at the right hand of God. And we believe Jesus will one day return to receive those who believe.

What do you believe about humanity?

We believe that every human being is created in the image of God to have a genuine relationship with God. For that reason we believe every person has sacred worth. But because of original sin (or natural bent toward sinning as a result of the fall of humanity) every human being stands in desperate need of salvation. Everyone has sinned (disobedience) and falls short of the glory of God. Therefore, every human being needs a Savior.

What do you believe about salvation?

We believe there is salvation in no one other than Jesus Christ. He is the way, the truth, and the life. No one gets to God the Father except through Him. We are justified by the grace of God through faith in Jesus. The sacrifice of Christ on the cross (atonement) reconciles us to our Heavenly Father and gives us victory over sin and death.

What do you believe about the Bible?

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and reveals God’s heart and mind on matters of life and faith. The Bible is our foundational authority for faith, life, and the Church. We believe it contains everything necessary for salvation.

What do you believe about growing in the Christian faith?

We believe being a Christian is a life-long process that actually begins before we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior (justification). Before our profession of faith God’s grace (prevenient grace)  had been at work in our lives drawing us to a place of decision. Once we profess our faith in Christ we begin a life-long journey of growing to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength and our neighbors as much as ourselves; being made into the image of Christ and walking as He walked. Our desire is to live lives totally dedicated to God.

What do you believe about the Church?

We believe that the Church is made up of all Christians worldwide who make up the body of Christ on the earth. As a United Methodist Church, we have our historical roots in the Methodist movement founded by John Wesley in England in the 1700s. We believe genuine Christian community found in the Church is necessary for us to experience the fullness of the Christian life.
